  • Why aren't there any pain/death sounds in Nexuiz? I think that they should be added for two reasons:

    1. They make it easier to tell when you've hit someone and when you've been hit.
    2. Right now death in Nexuiz sounds like squishing play-dough. A good "ahhh" or "blehhh" would be much better than "squish!"

  • i especially like the nexuiz jump sounds.

quake and its copy (warsow) have those horrible 'huh... huh... huh... huh' each time you touch the ground, and this sheep-bell-like (hihi) sound when you hit an oppenant. i HATE that  its the main reason why i can't play them too much time :( i also can't stand the announcer sounds like 'you are tight for the lead', 'you lost the lead', 'yihhhaaaa' etc... beeueueua.

... and for sure i LOVE the nexuiz's "awesome ! did yoda show you that ?" but it couldn't be anyhow else :)

imho nexuiz sounds are really well as they are :)

Fun fact: the old UT does contain announcer sounds "taken the lead", "lost the lead". However, they aren't used in the game... for a reason, I think.

As for the jumping sound... you just HAVE to watch http://tlf.cx/quake_in_real_life.asf :P
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • The Nexuiz sounds are okay as they are, but in an ideal world with more sound artists contributing work to the project, I'd like to see (hear) more variety in the effects and announcements. Play a different sound for different kinds of deaths, and make some of them extremely rare. The Yoda line is excellent, to the point that I am comfortable using it as a verb ("You just got Yodad"), but it'd be nice to have a lot of other lines to look forward to in a match.

In UT2004 - and I imagine a TON of other games as well, but that's basically the only commercial FPS I own besides GoldenEye for N64 - the announcer rewards you with several admiring phrases. Double Kill, Triple Kill, Pancake, etc. But it's always the lines that can only be obtained through rampages and killing sprees that are the most fun. I have to admit I giggled like a six year old when I heard the announcer exclaim "Holy Shit" for the first time. And several times after that.

yep.. ion the list as well since half a year ago :) allthough the ideas also include some sytem for moders and mappers to have something to choose from as well, and the players should be able to override the defaults.

  • I'm gunna say that those are really annoying. Especially for stealth. If someone is on an upper level of a map grunting, you're either going to wonder what the hell he's doing, or get ready to snipe him with a nex gun. They do that in so many games and it's so annoying.

oh yeah that's a funny video lol
