[Your daily q3 map][01] - mIKE - 1024_vs_me

  • I'll try to convert a q3 map a day from now on until i'm finished with my list 8)
    (you know i can't really do that, but i'll try)
    If people don't like the map at all it won't be included in the 2nd q3mappack.
    All maps will have proper bot-support. (Still bots are stupid in places)
    If you have an idea on how to improve the conversion, let me know!

    So here we go. First map!

    Known bugs: The models for the torches don't show up, as they're not included within Nexuiz. Any ideas for a workaround ?

  • I can give you an idea on how to make this map better.

    1. Remove all of the stairs.
    2. Add a lot of trickjumps of varying complexity.

  • I haven't looked at the map yet, but I'd say that very often the items don't fit to Nexuiz, so consider having them changed :)

  • There are also some missing textures, such as the skeleton and the figurine on the wall.

  • @kojak: I believe it's too small for TDM. But could e fun on 1on1s. Haven't looked into the item-placement though. (But the armor will get changed to an armor_100 for sure)

    @alpha: I won't alter the geometry as it's not my map. It was made for quake 3. I only converted it to Nexuiz (re-routing some standard q3-textures to Nexuiz textures, fixing shader-stuff, changing some items, adding bot-support), so gameplay will never suit Nexuiz perfectly.

  • if i checked it out right there is only a rocket launcher and a crylink , no?
    more weapons , e.g. in the upper floor
    and like torus said , missing textures like the flambeaus
    i think its too small for TDM ;)

  • Rocket launcher, electro, machine gun, and the 2 start weapons. But keep in mind it's a map conversion, so it should keep the same items and gameplay if possible.
    I think Strahlemann is fixing the missing textures problem.

  • Well i'm still having problems with the torches.
    Changing the weapons is not a problem (editing the ent-file is fast and simple).
    I don't have the time to look into each map's specific item-placement and gameplay, so i appreciate serious suggestions regarding the change of items (i'n not adding new ones or moving old ones) :wink:
    But there'll definitely be a 2nd release
