  • I have no idea why, but for some reason I can't get this map to auto-download. If I copy the map to my client data directory, it will play. But when putting it on my server and on the nexuiz ninjaz map repository, it won't auto-download to the client.

    It's not just me. Other players had the same problem.

    I even re-downloaded the pk3 to the map repository and to my server from strahlemann's link. Same result.

  • No problems, although people on the server were reporting pretty bad frame rates.
    Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

    Just unzip the pk3. If you don't get any CRC errors it's very unlikely that your pk3 is currupted...
    I just set up a test server and everything worked flawlessly, so if you pk3 is ok, the most likely explanation is that you are doing something wrong... ;)

  • It's the same steps I've been using for months. First I add the map to the map repo. Then I add the map to my server and edit my config and restart the server.


    First, update the map repository

    Code: Select all
    $ pwd
    /home/nn_maps/maps.nexuizninjaz.com
    $ rm ev_tpmc_nex_r1.pk3
    $ wget http://strahlemann.pdk.cc/ev_tpmc_nex_r1.pk3


    And then update my server

    Code: Select all
    $  pwd
    /usr/local/games/nexuiz242/data
    $ rm ev_tpmc_nex_r1.pk3
    $ wget http://strahlemann.pdk.cc/ev_tpmc_nex_r1.pk3
    $ unzip -l ev_tpmc_nex_r1.pk3 *.bsp
    Archive:  ev_tpmc_nex_r1.pk3
      Length     Date   Time    Name

    $ nano testmaps.cfg
    (add map to maplist)

    Then I open the screen for that server and CTRL-C and restart it.

    (CTRL-C to stop the server)
    (ARROW UP for last command)
    (ENTER) to start the server again)


    Then (in the server console) I "chmap ev_tpmc_nex_r1"

    And there is where it fails to autodownload the map. I check my dlcache and there is nothing there for this map. I know it's not a problem on my client's end anyway because everyone else that tried reported having the same problem with not being able to auto-download the map when connecting to my server.

    There are no entries in my curl_urls.txt for this map, so no conflict there.

    I've been able to download other maps just fine from the nexuiz ninjaz map repository since I've had this issue. I can download manually from the location on the map repo and it works fine... http://maps.nexuizninjaz.com/ev_tpmc_nex_r1.pk3

    So, what could I be doing wrong? Anyone have any ideas? :-/

    did you add the pk3 to curl_urls.txt? (or are you using wildcards/sv_curl_defaulturl?)
    Also the client log you posted is useless, any mapdownload error would appear between "Trying to connect..." and the first line you posted...

    I'll try adding that map to the curl_urls.txt just to test.

  • hm, the server doesn't even send a download link...
    Just a random idea: how many pk3s are in your data dir? Does moving some/all of them make a difference?

  • crap.

    ok, I have 173 pk3 files.

    I looked higher up in the server log and found where it said two pk3s were corrupt (paraphrasing). I deleted those and restarted, but it didn't make a difference.

    So I ran another server using a recently compiled SVN and ONLY that one pk3...and the map autodownloaded just fine :-(

    I mean :-)

    but still :-(

    because now I suppose I need to weed through my pk3 files.
