  • HI Clueless, would you like me to have a go at the detailing in this map?
It wouldn't take me too long.
    woots :D
Hey wow, i found out why your sky looks so nice, 1024 by 1024 is quite large isn't it?
If is was lower size, i think 512 is the recommended size, then fps problems might be better, not that there are any for me on this map, but y'know how it goes.
I like it how it is but mebbe you could do a low res version for peeps who have fps probs.
How did you make that sky btw?
    pshop?
    blender?
    both?
I tried to make a sky from a blender render , but it just looked shit :(
then i was having issues with lines where the images joined, argh argh and more argh.

All my maps are available for modding. No need to ask. There should be a .map file in the .pk3. Have fun. 8)

I thought about sticking with 512 x 512, but I decided to go with "looks nice". I haven't had any complaints yet.

I used PS + Blender to make the sky for Woden't Pit. That's when I remembered that I hate hate hate the Blender UI. I loathe it. Worst UI I've ever seen, any platform, any application. So I decided that instead of cursing at Blender (and wasting a lot of time relearning how to use the $#%& thing ), I'd be better off writing my own skybox program. More satisfying too. The skies for Rocky Hills and BlockScape were made with PS (heavy use of polar coord, offset, rotate, and globalize filters) and my own homegrown skyboxing app. 8)

The lines-at-image-joins thing means you didn't get the settings in Blender right. I had that problem when I first rendered the Woden skies with Blender, but managed to fix it after a lot of time (and cursing).

  • Played this a few times and enjoyed each match. Its nicely put together, the simplicity is perfect. The play on it reminds me a lot of Dance.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • Glad you guys like it. I might make more maps in this style. Easy to make and apparently fun to play (not a single complaint so far).

And for the mac-users; I've uploaded the skyboxing app I mentioned in my prev post in this thread. The link is in the editing forum.

  • This map is a good example of why you should add more gamemodes to the mapinfo file than the one that you intended.

I've been playing this on my public DM server and it got very good results. Everyone thought the map was very fun. Of course, I had to set it up so it only appears on the maplist when there are a lot of players on the server (using a mapname.sizes file). With enough players, this makes a great DM map.
