I fooled around with gtkradiant a bit the last few days and tried to create linux packages: http://kadaverjack.planetnexuiz.de/radiant/ (extract the tarball somewhere, unzip data.pk3/common-spog.pk3 to ~/.nexuiz/data & run radiant.x86)
No idea if they will work. They are build on debian/etch, based on svn revision 161, but the install script seems to be broken, so i needed to figure out myself which files are needed apart from the binaries. I hope it'll work and if it does, it might be a good idea to put stuff like that on the download page...

  • So- I got Radiant 1.5, and it seems to have Nexuiz supported, but I get this error=

    Code: Select all
Unable to find default tag file C:/Program Files/GtkRadiant 1.5.0/nexuiz.game/shadertags.xml. No tag support.

Where could I find that file? :)

  • Hi! Havent been around for a while.

The qeradiant home page is all changed, and I cant find anywhere to download radiant 1.4. I've tried 1.5 before, but I hate it compared to 1.4, so if anybody knows/has/sets up a mirror for it, then please share!

radiant == short for gtkradiant, the map editor used for Nexuiz...

    On gtkradiant's homepage: http://qeradiant.com/top/ ;)
(the windows installer on that page ships support for Nexuiz)

I tried the .rpm, but as usually it throws a lot of error messages about dependencies that I actually already have installed. I also tried converting it into .deb but no success there either.
    Thanks.
I got it to convert to a .deb very nicely. I can email you the .deb file I generated if you want

  • tZork wrote:I have updated my nexuiz-radiant package to address a bug that broke compile support with the stock bsp menu that ships with gtkradiant 1.4 i took this opertunity to clean out some pointless crap too.

If you have the "old" package installed:
Goto you radiant dir, find a dir named "q3map2" and just delete it. IF you have "mapmedia.pk3" in x:\pathto\nexuiz\data\ delete that too. (its useless for nexuiz mapping, and creates a pile of unwanted folders in you textures menu) Now install the new package as described below.

    NOTE
This pack overwrites shaderlist.txt and common.shade, so if you have thise customized this is the time to back them up.

    What do i need?
    GTKRadiant 1.4 for Windows
    Nexuiz 2.0
    (and a 32 bit Windows)
The zip file at the bottom of this post

    Howto install:
First of all, if you havent allredy, install GTKRadiant and Nexuiz. Download zip from below link, unzip, run "NexGtkR14Setup.exe". Point it to the location of gtkradiant 1.4 and nexuiz 2.0 (use the browse buttons). press install. Hopefully all will go smooth and you will get a message telling you it did. Now launch gtkradiant and select Nexuiz in the game list and start mapping =)

    Download is here:
    http://zdev.dvrdns.org/nexuiz/nexuiz-radiant.zip

First of all i have to say that im very new to mapping, tried it the first time few days ago.

I installed nexuiz-radiant in the way tZork described it. Consequently I made a very simple map: 4 walls, floor, sky and a respawn-point.

When I was finished and wanted to test it, I got a problem at saving: I dont know wheter I shall save it as a .map-or a .xmap file (actually I didn't find any other options).
Moreover I dont know how to get a map fixed for playing it.

So could you tell me how to make a map playable for nexuiz, please?

  • Does the topic of this thread imply a tutorial on map creation, [-z-]?

Last I checked GtkRadiant was mapping software. Seeing as how 1.5 doesn't need any ~configuration~ as it were, I felt something more up-to-date on this subject would be helpful.

This thread is is a lot of confusing, unnecessary information that a user looking to make a map for Nexuiz shouldn't have to go through.

  • The tutorial you've posted is certainly unrelated to the specific configuration of 1.5, prime examples being custom shaders, the usage of .ASE models, or an instruction even as rudimentary as to ensure that the Nexuiz editing pack is installed.

Nonetheless, the tutorial, being useless to one in a search for configuration instruction, should have stayed in the thread dedicated to tutorials regarding the usage of GTKRadiant to map.

  • Hi there.
I have a problem with feature "Run engine after compile". nexuiz-sdl.exe didnt work for some reason, so i decided to run nexuiz.exe after compile. I found \Nexuiz\extra\netradiant-1.5.0-svn358-win32\games\nexuiz.game and rewrote
    engine_win32="nexuiz-sdl.exe"
    to
    engine_win32="nexuiz.exe"

Now, what i didnt found: need to change game parameter from
    +set sv_pure 0 +devmap <mapname>
    to
    +map <mapname>
