  • Are you trying to make custom game models, with your clan's name emblazoned on it?

Well, I don't know how to make working player models for Nexuiz.

And the only modeller I know how to use is Blender. For mapping textures to models, you probably can use z-brush, cinema4d, 3ds, or a plethora of other modellers. All of which are commercial (cost money) other than Blender —that I can think of—.

  • Almost any 2d app will be able to edit a models skin. look at monk.pk3 on yer dlcash that will show ya what files you need to edit. and do make it a _new_ skin, dont just overwrite some other one..

  • Just search for it then you will find it (the little search button.)

And can you use GTK radian to edit it or can you use other programs? if so could you tell me were to get the programs. please =)

  • GTK Radiant has nothing to do with characters and skins...

What you need to do, is open up datasomething.pk3 (either copy and rename to .zip, or open it with a pk3 program like pakscape), and find the skin of the model you want to edit. Open it in whatever 2d program you like to use (im guessing ms paint :| ), and paint or paste your logo on. Its not going to be super easy if youve never done any editing.

    1. What search button are you talking about?
    2. GTK radiant can be used for models, but not the kind we're talking about.
[edit]: we've said it allready in the thread: use blender for models

anyways, if you look in monk.pk3 (or data[insert numbers here].pk3, it has a model in /models/, and a skin for it in /gfx/. All you need to do is put your logo in the right place (in gimp for example) and you're set.

No, the skins are in textures/, gfx/ is only for hud images and other stuff rendered in 2D...

  • I think you might be able to alter the images with Gimp, however, the models currently in the game are symmetrically mapped. The textures all use halves. So, you would have to remap the entire character to get the logo appear across the chest or back. I have a commercial image manipulator program that will do the job nicely (PSP).

  • Making a full model is a lot of work. I doubt anybody is going to make for you just like that. Learn blender and make it yourself

  • Follow tutorials and practice. Your not going to be instantly good, and I doubt anybody will just make you a model for no reason. Just stick with it.

  • God your lazy. You have to be willing to spend a little time and work on this. If you couldnt find a tutorial, then you either didnt look at all, or didnt very hard. Google is your friend.

  • Modelling is not something you will learn in a few days by yourself.
Modelling is hard to learn, very time wasting :P

But it's very exciting on the other site. So put more time in. Read more Tutorials. Play with the programm. And Blender is really a hard program for a beginner who haven't ever modelled in a 3D Programm. CInema4D is much easier and the Trial is free.

  • Yeah if you talk so nobody will model for you. It's like a nanny goat and nobody will make anything for you if you are crying around.

So ask friendly, be calmly and gently and wait until one helps you.

  • yeah modeling is alot of work, some models can take months. I'd say that you won't be able to just make the model in a day, it takes lots of effort.

Maybe you can look around for a generic model of a person and then texture it?

It's not that detailed and I created an example texture and then let the clan members make their own textures, that way it went fast XD. Also, I am stuck with getting it to work in Nexuiz, and then after that on our servers...
