First: I would like to let certain sounds be played when the players walk on surfaces with certain textures. I know this can be done in most of the Q3 games I've played, so I kinda hoped it could be done in Nexuiz as well.
If so, how does one do it?
Second: Where can I find free (as in "I can distribute them in a nex level") sounds? Specifically, what I'm looking for are feet crunching on gravel and feet stomping on metal grates/catwalks (if you've looked at the unfinished version of Caverna then you know where i'll be using them).

I also am trying to do a similar thing right now, to get different sounds on some different push triggers on a map. One thing that Doc P found out is that you have to call the sounds .wav in radiant instead of the .ogg that you need to use. I'm glad somebody else found this for me O:
Also I'm trying to figure out how to make sounds louder and cover more area but maybe i just have to put more speakers in. To make them loop properly, I crossfaded them all so that they loop seamlessly but they still click in nexuiz.
Fruitiex just advised me to look at the piano in peace5 for some tips, good advice i reckon, I'll report back.

I also tried to get sounds to work with doors in 'angryred', I tried setting it with a trigger and target_speaker entity, as well as in the params for the door_func when I created the doors. I also am using .ogg files, but used .wav in the names. They don't work currently.

weell in peace5 the piano has buttons which move and emit sound when you walk over them it's a func_button. But I don't think this is what you're after. I recall that in 70mm13's maps he has a custom footstep sound, really annoying if you're trying to sneak up on sum dee O:
So i go look there now.
Good Luck ?-;
Anybody remember if there is a map that has custom jump pad sounds out there???

70mm13's footsteps are a server option, g_footsteps, that he has turned on just to freak everyone out.

No you cant. sadly, not even normal footstep sounds work very well.
HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it?
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

Oh. That's too bad.
Well, thanks for a clear and unambiguous answer, anyway.
