  • Is it possible to have a 2 color crosshair? when playing maps like evilspace, my red crosshair gets lost against the sky.

  • Yellow is a great color to use if there is no way to use two colors.

  • If you make a custom crosshair it can have as many colors as you like (I think).
Try crosshair 9 or 10. They have a black parts in combination to your crosshair color. yellow or green are good colors for those.

  • iirc you just make a .tga file with whatever gfx you want for a cross (edit alpha for transparent areas). If its colorized you need to set crosshair_color_red, _green and _blue to 0 (or was it 1?) for it to show up right. oh and save as nexuiz/data/gfx/crosshair#.tga. use "crosshair #" in the game console to try it.

  • I'm sure this would be really hard (vision-oriented), but how about script in the game to change the aimer's color (by the pixel) to the opposite of the color it's on (red/green, blue/orange, yellow/purple)?

  • and 50% grey/50% grey? ;)
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Heres what I use, it shows up extremely well on all maps and is 2 coloured in a sense:

    crosshair_color_blue "0.0"
    crosshair_color_green "0.75"
crosshair_size "0.3" //For the Circle with an X intersecting, where the circle is black (non-defineable) and X is orange
crosshair "10" // For the circle with an X intersecting

Try putting the above into your config file and you may wish to resize the crosshair.

  • http://rapidshare.com/files/102911655/c ... l.pk3.html

Contains the 11 crosshairs in 2.4.1 plus three others, one from Blµb and two from me.

I've resized them all to fit a 32 x 32 pixel grid and cleaned them up a bit.

Use the console command crosshair plus the number of the crosshair you want.

    e.g. crosshair 11 will display Esteel's new two-tone crosshair.

If you use 12, 13 or 14 you'll need to set your red, green and blue sliders to 1.

    Code: Select all
    crosshair0   blank
    crosshair1   cross, thick, blended
    crosshair2   cross, dotted  thin, blended
    crosshair3   plus, dotted  thin, solid
crosshair4   L, lower right, thin, solid
    crosshair5   plus, dotted, thin, solid
    crosshair6   solid centre dot
    crosshair7   plus, thick, solid
crosshair8   circle with a centre dot, solid
crosshair9   cross white, gradient plus black centre dot
crosshair10   cross white, gradient, plus circle and centre dot black
crosshair11 (Esteel's)   circle with a centre dot, white and black, solid
    crosshair12 (Blµb's)   plus, multi-coloured
crosshair13 (victim's)   plus, red and yellow
    crosshair14 (victim's)   plus, multi-coloured

    Ideally crosshairs should be 1 x 1, 2 x 2, 4 x 4, 8 x 8, 16 x 16, 32 x 32, 64 x 64 etc pixels, i.e. a power of 2.

Crosshairs can be saved as a TGA or a PNG. I haven't tried any other formats, but JPG or GIF may work :!:

Save the above file to your hidden .nexuiz/data folder or your Nexuiz game folder nexuiz-2.4/data

GIF won't work, since the engine doesn't support GIF and JPEG doesn't have alpha channel support, so unless you want to make a square crosshair it's rather useless...

Two very good points. I only found out about PNGs by accident, I saved a file as a PMG instead of TGA and it worked in game :D

It would nice if different sized crosshairs could be automatically resized to fit. I created this masterpiece
    Image
use crosshair_size 3.5 to see its full glory (it only took 30 seconds)

That is an excellent idea, but I don't think it can currently happen. However, if you show team names. all the players names appear after a few seconds in their appropiate colours.

You could change the time delay to 0 seconds and the game could autoselect a crosshair depending upon the team colour.

You will need to have two (or more KH) different crosshairs with appropiate console variable names or maybe change the three colour controls
