  • I took the liberty to change the URL for the model sources, since the "ModelSource" section on sf.net is no longer updated.

  • This is still very vague- if it is to be a proper guide, you should link to some sites with infos about how to animate/rig it correctly, and mention/explain the rigging in your guide.

  • Thanks Shag! :D

Yes, I use GIMP too, so put it on the list. ;)

Plus... you rig the model AFTER exporting?! How? :O

  • Yes, it's not meant to be a detailed modeling HOWTO. It's meant to be for people who Would like to know the steps to do all this.

    @ Obi
Sorry, I got the order round the r=wrong way, check it now it should be right.

EDIT: I'll look around for some modeling tutorials for each program I mentioned.

  • I agree this is too vague, it's a good start but those are only the steps to take, but even if you know the steps, it doesn't really help. Each of these step needs a guide on it's own.

For example you tell to edit config-zym.txt and change the name of the output but if you take a look at the rest, what does it do? I can tell each action is animated in a different file, that you can tell what fps each animation is to be played, if they're supposed to loop, you have to tell the scale of the model and stuff like that. I think it would be a good thing to explain this, personally I'm not sure I understand. There's mesh.smd that contains the base mesh? Does the other .smds also contain the mesh or just the animated skeleton? If the mesh is contained in each animation file, what's the use of mesh.smd?

Anyway, this is a good start, maybe the people who are experienced at making models for nexuiz can contribute and explain one or more of these steps and that info can be added to the post. So that in the end it could become a full guide.

  • Hmm.... Ok... I might start working on a detailed guide...

Maybe I should get one of the mods to delete this thread so I can start over...

    UPDATE:
I've gotten the extra details ready, but I'd like this topic deleted. Because its going to involve multiple posts...
