  • You have (maybe) heard of the nexuiz ninjaz community, over there we have a "Nexuiz School" project. We want to teach how to play nexuiz, not only to the beginners, but also to the intermediate ones.

I've made a mod to make the teacher's work easier. Here are the features:

    Teacher status, password-protected.
    Cheat whitelist, Impulse whitelist.
Pupil grouping (warping all the pupils on a specific position of the map)
    Weapon control on pupils.

    More to come, I hope...

It's not a big mod, but I think it can be useful...

PK3 containing the 2.4.2 compatible version, readme with some info, a compiled progs.dat and a patchfile to the 2.4.2 gamecode

  • Back a while ago a group of folks were working on noobmaps/noobmod for teaching new players the ropes.

A Dojo is in the works.

Mr Bougo has done a fabulous job with this. He put a lot of effort forth in the creation/documentation of this mod. It will help a lot of new players learn proper techniques early on.

It should be on the school server soon.

  • This sounds really noice. But when are your classes? On the Ninjas site it says "check the schedule below", but there is no schedule below. I want to join a class, because my movement is sluggish and bumpy, and this sounds worthwhile for help.

  • Feel free to mod my mod, 4m :)
Oh, and here is the stuff to come for the next version:

    1. Custom color for the teachers, instead of forcing yellow
    2. Enabling the mod only on team-based game modes. This will make the coding a bit easier, anyway almost every map has either ctf or tdm enabled...
    3. Merge sv_cheats_commands_impulse and sv_cheats_commands together (like set sv_cheats_commands "god fly 99 77" )

Dont hesitate to request stuff! I'm out of imagination :p

Oh, and I had never heard of noobmaps before :o

    Is it still alive?

iSuck: Don't worry, the classes will come soon, as you can see on the ninjaz forum there is a school subforum, it's not very full, but it has class projects. I plan doing an advanced laserjump class for intermediate players

  • Well, since the teaching is supposed to be done in a teamplay game mode, the teacher has a yellow shirt and pants of his/her team, to avoid confusion :)

I'll make some command to select the teacher specific color, for now only yellow can be used (or another color if you tweak the source)

We've got several people interested in teaching, but it takes a little while to get a new project like this going. Keep checking the schedule. I'm sure we'll have new classes posted soon.

  • Mr. bougo, aot has previously asked me to make a nn teacher model, so maybe you should modify it from being the color to the player model....

  • Since we're a bit off topic do you want the model to be correctly animated?

  • Huuuh?

You mean, do we prefer a correclty animated or wrongly animated one?

    I'd say the first...

I really have no clue about what you mean... :?:
