I think the effect was changed twice, I think the most current one doesn't expand?

  • maybe it just needs propper tweaking. ;)

i use a very thin beam and some subtle rings would fit better than the "bubbly" particles.

  • The nex beam effect in the SVN doesn't accurately portray the nature of a nex shot, from what I've seen on Galt's Gulch. I think a better representation would be two bright blue rays, thin but solid. The two rays could glow with a soft blue border for added asthetic pleasure, but the gaslike quality of the current animation doesn't seem to portray the exactness and power of the nex.

  • I'm missing a solid beam not made of particles.

  • damit, it's nerfed.
never contributing anything to nexuiz again since it won't appear as intended (like mgun hand, muzzleflashes etc)
no, not even unrelated custom models. The era is over.

Hey man, you can always replace the models with your on your machine if it bothers you that much.

But shit, when you fall off the horse....

Why not work for something you REALLY want in the game like segmented models? Do the ground work, PROVE that it's not that big of a bandwidth problem and SHOW the other developers what's up.

Well, I'm sorry you're disappointed. I consider development to be an iterative cyclic process. In the end some sort of consensus should be reached, but this depends on the original author giving feedback on problems and pointing out to things he absolutely doesn't want to be changed. Many of your proposals actually will be in 2.4 (greatly improving the visuals of particles overall) and I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy that.
