Teleport Texture Sucks

  • Srsly.

    I was wondering, if it could be possible to replace the warp texture with a water shader or something similar, so it would look a little more like the warp portals in Turok ( 0:18 ).

    Something like this

  • Yeah, when making a map you can use whatever texture you want for the teleport. Idk what to do if you want to change an existing one, other than recompiling the map.
    That tex does look kool.

  • The teleporter texture should fit the setting of the map. Like the teleporters on runningman(1on1) or on BrokenWorldv3r2.
    Lazy mappers like me tend towards not to create additional textures which would fit the style of the map.
    But personally i believe that the teleporter texture on aggressor fits perfectly. It's similar to the good ol' quake1 teleporter, and since aggressor is a good ol' quake1 map, i vote for not changing the teleporter there.
    A fancy teleporter effect for other maps would be nice though.

  • Stupid me :P Should've known, that it's map-dependant...
    I was thinking, it has to be a default texture, cause so many maps are using it.
    Anyway, a water shader as a warp portal could look very cool.

    The "default texture" is caulk, which is invisible... :)
