  • hey there,

for some time now I notice regularly how difficult it is to monitor map development and releases of new maps.
Sure there is a section in forum about maps.

But I think something like a subversion repo would be nice.

Developer could upload maps to their subfolder, Server admins can download all maps from one location and after some map has been updated all one has to do is: "svn co" to get the latest of all maps.

permissions can be handled to allow each developer only access to their directories, so noone can accidentally delete or corrupt others' maps - and we would have versioning for all of them. so everybody wanting an older release of a map could get it there as well.

    give it a thought, please

  • Hello,

I help maintain the Nexuiz Ninjaz map repository. http://maps.nexuizninjaz.com

-z- (the Nexuiz Ninjaz site owner) is working on a map repository "app" for organizing map data and helping people (mainly server admins) to stay updated on map updates (and eventually to allow users to give ratings on maps).

We were just talking about this topic yesterday, about having an effective way to keep up with map updates. I know -z- had something in mind, so you might want to ask him in irc://irc.quakenet.org/nexuiz.ninjaz
    or PM him here
