why am i getting weird shading?

  • this is a model i'm playing around with. it looks ok in blender, but when i export it to an zym and run it in nexuiz i get these weird patches that are brighter.

    the edges of the bright patches are where i've roughly marked the edges for uvmapping. i really can't figure out why this is happening.

  • check the face normals?

  • did you setup texture for it ? it looks too me like default "notexture" texture which is grey/dark grey checker

  • thanks morphed. i'd made a mistake with the texture name. i didn't realise i was looking at the error texture.

    i corrected the mistake and i've put a less confusing skin on it for now.
