Hey guys...this is my first post. I just started playing Nexuiz recently and I love it. The only thing that bugged me was that the weapons sounds were not exactly great. So I came up with my own weapons sound pack. Most of these are brand new sounds. A few of them are modified versions of the original sound. The machine gun for example was brought into Cubase and I added reverb and equalized it to give it a sharper, more powerful sound than the stock (which was a little dull). The grenade and energy bounces were also EQed and reverb was added. The majority of these sounds are brand new however. I hope that you guys enjoy it. Please leave feedback...I would really like to know what everyone thinks.

For anyone who doesn't know, just drop this file into the data directory and you're all set.

While these sounds certainly are nice, they can't be used in the official Nexuiz release, because they aren't strictly yours, and they aren't licensed under the GPL- everything in the official release has to be completely GPL. Too bad, really :-[

That said, I completely agree that the current Nexuiz weapon sounds are very dinky, and need a complete (GPL compliant) redo.

Hmmm...I'm not familiar with the liscencing rules. These are royalty free though, so I was under the assumption that they can be used with anything really. You're saying I have to have actually created the sounds for them to be used?

Oh well...either way...at least people can download it as an add-on and enjoy it.

No, they don't have to be created by you, they have to be licensed under the GPL. If you found sounds that were GPL, they could be included (although they probably wouldn't be, because its good etiquette to ask the creator's permission. So usually the only things included ARE made by people themselves, and GPLed themselves.

It will stay unofficial for licence reasons but these sounds really do kick ass.
Is there some place where we can collect all these cool things which are LGPL or Creative Commons? There are a lot of cool stuff scattered all over these forums.

wait, so where are the sounds from? if they are not GPL'ed then you should include a copyright notice in the PK3.
