  • to be short.... i suck at modeling

    however i have quickly come up with a... different flag model... so prepare to be disappointed

    in the picture there is a red flag, a blue flag, and possibly what it would look like dropped on the ground... or when carried

    i think its more nexuizy then the flag models with flags

  • Although it's a nice concept, we kinda currently have big round cogwheels. But it still has to be a flag, hence the 'Capture the Flag' name, not 'Capture Those Things' or 'Capture the Cogwheels'. On another note, I don't think cogwheels are too Nexuiz-ish, especially the upper part of the beam where there's a cogwheel floating.
    Change the material to rust and tweak the beam thing and you would have a solution for Half-Life 2 instead :p

  • Couldn't this be of use in Onslaught? Like for the generator or power nods?

  • well i dont see any reason that a falg needs to be teh thing u capture in ctf...
    merely something that pple will understand upon seeing that it is the flag....
    and anyways... at the point in nexuiz, arent flags a little ancient?

    also i only used the gear in the top point because i did nt have the nexuiz stylized n
    however if i pleases you, i will add a flag into the middle

    Yet. There needs to be done a lot more before, I think, more people will start to play.

    It's not just me, but even the majority of the community want an actual flag and not something that represents a flag. On another note, flags will never be ancient :D

    tbh its cool artwork, but I'm sure a actual flag is what the majority wants.
    I think there is a place in Nex for your COG's though

    perhaps a replacement for the electro primary bullet
    current one looks like... uhm... see for urself?

    That car was just a test for the Race mode.
    A model completely consisting of cogwheels would be hard to animate in Nexuiz, because the engine doesn't support segmented models yet and doesn't have any kind of animation blending either.

  • make each one turn a set distance each 10 frames, so it looks smooth when it starts teh animation over again... its what i planned on doing, as soon as i read the how to make playa models sticky
    my question is how do you plan on starting that?
    a tank model would be easy and low poly due to straight armour sections.
    and a face mounted gun would make it awsome... if i can do that
    give it cog wheels,
    camo look with cog decals
    name the character cantankerous cog

    cogwheels instead of flesh?

    that is outa my league

    the way i seen it the model would have to be extremely high poly or use a fairly complexe texture, that would most likely be larger than what your allowed...
    anyways, back to mah tank!

    quickly coming up with a generic idea for the body

    Thats fine, but we had players using it on Galts CTF and DM and it was a pain in the ass.

    If ya wanna use a tank or any other vehicles in Nex keep it for the race mode only, it not only looks silly on other modes it also just doesn't keep with the flow of the game, they look ridiculous laser jumping and they block doorways.

  • hmm that is a good point...
    ill try to find a way to make it less of a pain, and hopefully not completely stupid looking when jumping; but on the other hand, does any model look good shooting itself to gain speed?

    A flying thing, it can hover a normal speed (walking) but can gain speed with it's low booster (bunny hopping). Laser would probably have to be replaced as a model to represent something that creates a bigger boost. If possible, the model should rotate, similar to the cl_rollangle effect.

  • maybe ill add simple thrusters to teh bottem inbetween teh treads, either have tehm lodged in the ground so that they are only visible when moving in the air (possible?), or just have them "turn on" then you get airborne,
    also as for not making it a pin to look at/deal with, for as much as the concept will allow it will be tall and thin, hope that fixes it being a pain and blockign doorways, i will also do my best to keep experimentals from really getting out there, unless its extremely funny, then i just cant help myself
