  • HarryButt and zuriastrad's model. I've meshmoothed it further since it was unnecessarily very very low poly. Nexuiz I assume can handle 3k polygons for player models. That's considered lowpoly in modern games already. Unwrapped by zuriastrad. Further rendered a normal map, for more details and smoothing, I also assume Nexuiz can support that?

Here's what I've finished so far:

    ImageImage

Left is medium poly model with no normal maps, center is medium poly model with normal map applied, right is hi-poly model from which the normal map was generated.

Comments/suggestions please while it's still fresh in my mind and I can do quick changes before I submit this. I can't do any more changes later since I'm also very busy with our mod. You guys will have to take care of the team colors, rigging, and exporting in the right format for this.

  • Oh ok. *sigh*

I'll add it in Mesh. I tried placing nail textures on the model with horrible results because of the blunt shapes. I'll make em sharp.

Indeed, it looks a little like it's made from green plasticine without any sharp bits. IMHO claws/nails would add some more 'grain' to the model to offset the 'smooth green blob' look, and bring it more in line with the gritty look of the current models.

  • In my original concept I was thinking of a color scheme similar to a south-american frog. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d0/Red-eyed_Tree_Frog_-_Litoria_chloris_edit1.jpg
I would like this guy to be green/yellow, so your texture kinda fits my idea ;) His mandible was intended to be a separate mechanical part, made of metal. Completely independent from his body. And I originally planned to have a belt on this cloth thing that he's wearing. Even if it'd be only a texture, it would add a little to the general detail level.
Otherwise it looks very cool this far, and I can't thank you enough for your efforts, man. If I had the time and the skills, I'd do it myself, but at the moment real life is taking over. I will try to provide any kind of help, so ask me about everything.
    Good luck!

  • Kk. Will do a complete overhaul on the texture then, add more color highlights similar to the tree frog.. Mesh will also be modified for the nails, belt, and jaw, so it must be rerigged. Don't really have that much free time since our mod takes first priority, but I will try and finish as soon as I can.
