.lin file

  • Iwas sifting through my map files in nexuiz/data/maps and found some new files i have never seen before . example.bak , example.srf example.lin what is this file ? what does it do ? do i need to place in a pk3 somewhere? will it make my computer do tricks?
    Master ? Do you call me Grasshopper because I am cunning and stealthy?

  • example.bak is an older version of your map; same goes for example.autosave.map or how that one is called. Delete it.

    example.srf is a surface file made by q3map2. Not needed after the light stage. Delete it.

    example.lin is a leak line file made by q3map2, used to indicate where a map leak is (GtkRadiant showed you these red lines then). Delete it when you have fixed the leak.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

    You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

    ya the .lin was confusing me . i thought it may have been a new file for for an update i ddnt know about . ok thanx divVerent good to see you are still around .
