  • From SVN entities.def

    Code: Select all
    /*QUAKED func_rain (0 .5 .8) ?
    This is an invisible area like a trigger, which rain falls inside of.
    -------- KEYS --------
    velocity: falling direction (should be something like '0 0 -700', use the X and Y velocity for wind)
    cnt: sets color of rain in the Quake palette (default 12 - white)
    count: adjusts density, this many particles fall every second for a 1024x1024 area, default is 2000
    */

    I don't think this is correct. Take a look at Ruiner.

    Hmmm alright, then it's both :D. All I know is on whizard I was able to just do a block ~20qu high at the top of the map and the bottom had rain, YAY RAIN!

  • I seem to remember that func_rain must be under (and possibly touching) a skybox to work. The brush might also need to be textured with common/trigger, but my memory is a little fuzzy here.

  • last night i have done many experiments.

    with same setting with a larger brush the rain is visible;
    with same brush and count >100.000 the rain is visible;

    my conclusion:
    1- not important position of the brush
    2- rain is under brush and also into it
    3- is important the combination brush size and count value (little brush needs high count value)
    4- of course is important set r_drawparticles_drawdistance properly

    now i can see the sun :)
