My thoughts on the weapons

Post anything to do with editing Nexuiz here. Whether its problems you've had, questions, or if you just want to show off your work.

  • I'm usually not compelled to do this but, I think some of the weapons could use some improvements. Here are my thoughts:
      ∙ The HLAC's secondary fire really makes you jump too high (of course, there is a huge price to pay but, still).
      ∙ The HLAC's primary fire starts accurate and gets inaccurate. So as soon as you stop shooting, it becomes accurate. I think the accuracy should just be constant.
      ∙ A lot of guns use the same ammo. I think the hager and mortar should use a new ammo type and, the HLAC should use machine gun ammo.
      ∙ IMHO, the mortar's secondary fire should be completely changed (Perhaps a close range thing like HLAC's secondary fire?).
      ∙ The crylink primary fire should spread just a little bit faster.


    edit: These aren't really bugs but, I didn't know were to put this.

  • I like your idea about the HLAC using machinegun ammo, especially since no other weapon except the machinegun uses it.
    Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • Sec mortar is sometimes useful: two, three sec mortar + 1 primary mortar -> same as electro trap.

    Hagar sec is really useless.

    It just seems too similar.

    Well yes , but i think its not that usefull, most of the maps you can't jump that high and it costs about 100 HP. Ok in Mentalspace its pretty usefull.

    No i think its fine and some kind of realistic. (wait, Nexuiz + realistic = NOT :D )

    1st point: No , Hagar and Mortar and the RL are using a kind of rockets so they should have the same ammo type. 2nd point: Agree.

    The ammunition shared between the Rocket Launcher, Grenade Launcher, and Hagar are warheads, not rocket motors.

  • Looks aside, with 4 guns soon using the same ammo, it's harder to run out of ammo with those guns.

  • We need new ammo box to be modelled then. Model new ammo box and weapons might be split to use it.

  • Somebody needs to model this and then only gameplay code could be changed. As well, there is an issue that all maps should be rebuilt cause some weapons with new ammo wouldn't have their ammo included. Questions about modeling should go to editing thread.

    I'm not sure that's big deal, it's always possible to temporarily increase the default amount of ammo in the guns. What about the other things?

    Its very easy when your spamming a hallway with them to just run right past them because they go so fast if it were to be lowered they wouldnt zoom out right past the person.

    Okay, that makes sense but, I'm not sure it does or doesn't do that. I'll take note of it to see if it discourages spamming . Personally, what discourages me most from spamming is rare ammo :wink: (but that's a mapping problem too).
