Spiderbot alpha testrelease

  • Yeah, at this point the only question left to ask might be- How original is it?

    Plus, what if an idea is already perfected?

    Or it is lacking one finishing touch? Like these spiderbots have alot in common with an ED-209 or battlemech from the torso up, but their lower profile and more numerous legs could make them more realistic for an AFV of this size.

    Another viewpoint is that people don't always want to be bombarded with completely original ideas, that some things grow on them over time and they like them more and more. FOSS games have often been a way to bring those things back, after they've been milked for all their commercial worth or simply forgotten about by the commercial game or movie industries. At this point, they probably won't be making a Sixth Element. :D

    Not to say really originals ideas aren't really cool and worth exploring either. I personally like to make models and such from both original and less original ideas; I don't set limits either way.

    O_o ... definitly not ... only, cause its magazine is behind the grip, its not a FAMAS ...
    It maybe, that my weapon looks a bit like the Famas ... but i made it without the intension to let it be somethin existing ...

    I meant that "traumship surprise" cap ... for example ...

    Someone's making a vehicle ... and what appears as an answer :
    A picture of that vehicle from that movie with the words "make this with chainguns"

    Thats not a real idea in my eyes ... its exacly what i thought about when i was 5 ...
    "wow would be cool if this one would have chainguns instead of the lights" ...

    At last its not easy to invent new things ... Finally everything will look like somethin the creator have seen before ...

    My weapons are all based on the real mechanical function of a weapon ...
    there's a magazine, a closerbolt that fires the bullet and a barrel where it goes through ...
    At last every weapon i create will look like a weapon that allready exists in some way ... cause its difficult to create somethin i never have seen before u know ... ?
    But i should be able to put things together in another way ...

    In addition to that, the rifle u meant to be a Famas, has an integrated Grenade Launcher and fires a larger calibre then the Famas ...
    In addition to that its design is complete different ... -_-

    When i look at this ... im sure there are tomatoes on ur eyes sorry ...

    If im right i would say there is more from the sten machine gun when i look at the cooling holes at the barrel ... and rest of its design reminds me more on an advanced design of the famous p90 ... that were the two weapons i took my ideads from originally ... y_y ...

    However i didn want to start a discussion about this ...

  • isnt it equal?! his gun looks similar like the famas itts a really good work the computer model looks similar like a real one... only has a additional sight and some other things :wink:

    "traumschiff surprise" is in english "traumship surprise" and not "dreamship surprise" :lol:

    because dream(en) = traum(ger)
    because traumschiff is a pun
    RAUMschiff(ger) = spaceship (en)
    tRAUM(ger) = dream(en)
    (maybe you know it already)

  • add -DVEHICLES_ENABLED to the ftqecc flags in data/Makefile

    btw does anyone have a testing map for this, in a safe location?

  • not yet, and it still needs some work for its physics so when you shoot it it doesnt fly away, getting out doesn't put it 10ft over your head, it stays on the track, etc. i would love to see a f-zero thing done with it, but with guns on it so the f-zero like racing would be funner with people shooting at each other at high speed.

  • You need to compile nexuiz with the spirebot enabled. I have no idea how to do this, I never tried it myself.
