http://www.virtualdub.org/ is a good tool to compress/make .avi files of stuff like that...

If you want to to follow KadaverJacks way with the rawyv12 thing you can modify the alias like:
alias "+capturevideo" "set cl_capturevideo_rawyv12 1; set cl_capturevideo 1; alias capturevideo -capturevideo"
alias "-capturevideo" "set cl_capturevideo 0; set cl_capturevideo_rawyv12 0; alias capturevideo +capturevideo"
alias "capturevideo" "+capturevideo"
