  • I'm making a map called : Ice Boat

but as you can see the sky fails here :(

i need some help with the sky, how do i set or import skies.
i tried to put in the sky from the map frost (love that sky) but i only see a picture of it when i build the map.
Do i need to set something before?

    please help!

And also say what you think about the rest of the map.

  • In Source engine I would use 3D skybox, which is separated area in map with scaled down surroundings in it. Maybe something like this exists in Nexuiz. You can make a large snow field or sea that blurs with sky on horizon. Would look quite nice with current skybox.
Boat itself is way too simple. Try adding surface details made of darker metal, hatches/holes in border etc.

  • Umm... open the file in any text editor and add the name of the shader to the end of the list there? :D

  • Although: It probably still is in the data zip. Go to your nexuiz data/ dir and do:

    Code: Select all
    unzip -v data[your specific version here].pk3 scripts/shaderlist.txt

If that works, remove the -v option :)

    Code: Select all
    unzip data[your specific version here].pk3 scripts/shaderlist.txt

Then add your script file's base name to the list int that text file.. BTW: Does it make a difference whether this is in the Nexuiz data dir or in the user data dir?

Hi again.. In the directory where you unzipped the nexuiz zip archive, there's a directory called data/. Go into that. In that directory there's a file called data[some specific version string here].pk3. This archive contains a file called scripts/shaderlist.txt. You want to extract that. Extracted files override archived ones. See my previous post on how to use unzip to extract only that file. Then edit that file with a text editor and add the basename of the textfile containing your shader definitions..

Just to make sure you didn't miss the obvious: in order to follow lda17h's advice you need to use the termial. If you don't know how to use the terminal, I can help you with that no problem, just ask. If you know, then never mind me, just wanted to make sure this is not the problem :o)
<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?
