  • I've never been able to get them to spawn, but that's because I can't compile anything, because I don't have xcode.
    Why has a developer ever needed any reason other than "it looks bloody awesome?"

  • you should be able to load the compiled progs with the executable shipped with 2.5.2 afaik.
    HOF:

  • I've tried multiple things, but I am content to wait till a version comes out that officially supports them.

  • I fixed the rims around the windows too now + separated the guns / spinners and made animations. so dont change the body model more for now. im going to try to make the guns track the crosshairs to make it possible to aim.. the default "sloped gun orientation" makes it really hard to hit anything.

  • Tzork: could you try destructable test on your end. They used to spawn at each corner area of the asphalt roads around the towers.

  • cross-tracing guns worked well, and dont look to awkward even tough they where designed to sit still. Now i need to come up with what they should fire.. atm i just slapped a rapid fire laser-like bolt on them, but thats kinda boring.. maybe a sustained beam, like a laser.. ideas are welcome. tomorrow ill try to finish up the last bits of 'structural' code and start with the hud. and since everyone loves pictures:

  • man, that looks awesome! thank you for taking this on, tZork.

    and about the weapons, maybe a bluish white laser bolt.

    also, an idea for weapons in general. would it be possible to have "headshots" for vehicles? or rather, weak points that if you hit them, do more damage then normal. it might make it so that those not in a vehicle have a chance if someone attacks them with one.

    (note: I play with a config that increases the health of the spiderbot, and makes it's minigun faster... makes it more REAL, yo)

  • Well when i said weapon ideas i meant more in the line of function, not the color of the bolt :P i think ill try the beam idea and see how it goes.

  • Could maybe the raptor also shoot 2, big, stable missiles (one at a time) that have a big blast radius and explode with an expanding sphere of flame/plasma (using the sphere that the fireball secondary uses but texturing it with fireness?). Like air to ground missiles.

    In addition to whatever it shoots from the guns.

  • Whatever they end up being, I would recommend having two weapons on this chopper, like the spiderbot and most of the hand held weapons have.

    also, what do the rotors do? do they spin, or do you have them fixed?

    because for the end result, maybe they could spin, and in the 3 cutout sections, you could add a glow effect.

    Yoda: could you pretty please finish the full cockpit. Maybe for the seeing-down windows frame them as if they were video camera displays (if thre isn't an actual window there). Futuristic 3d vid cam displays :P. I doubt you have to start all over, just finish up and make better what you have allready (with tzork's input)

    Shouldn't there be 4 death beams? (2 on each side).
    Would it be possible to put a third weapon (like a machinegun under the cockpit, or hanging off the wings). It would be cool to hover near a building and shoot out the glass with machinegun. Change weapons selected by pressing some button (deathbeams+bombs (press g or something) then machineguns and ... something)) some games use g to change mode (gun)).

    Stupid idea: allow a second person (if on your team) to enter vehicle and control some weaps (the non selected-by-pilot weaps)?

  • well this is just a mess. The cockpit is terrible. I don't know what I was smoking when i made it, but it must have been potent stuff. anyway, i am starting over, and already looks 1000 times better.
