  • Well, it's just a fake postprocess effect.. But the code for it isn't committed yet, you'll have to wait to use it or get the patch from blub. Anyway, it uses an edge-detect sobel method to see where differences in color are and then it draws black lines there.. This is perfect if you don't want textures.. But this is what happens when you don't do gl_picmip:
    ImageImage

Now, I personally LIKE this a little.. If you've ever played borderlands, it kinda reminds me of that. But, it's a bit too much this way :p

NO WAY MAN! I like very much this effect with textures! It seems dirty, rusty, filthy, oh my god: it seems a post-apocaliptic comic book! :D
I like very much this effect!
    Thanks for the clarification!

Anyway, where could I find Blub Patch?

Now that looks freakin cool. Kind of reminds me of the graphical style of Loaded on the PS1. Someone should try using cel shading on maps as detailed as Ruiner, I think it make for some interesting visuals.

  • the picmip less version is preddy damn cool, if a map where designed with textures to take better advantage of it it cold look even better.

  • The only problem with it is that.. it ruins _some_ maps, and others look fantastic with it. Here are some examples:

    Good:
    ImageImage

    And the bad:
    ImageImage

On silvercity, do you see that moiree? Well, it's far worse than that in real time, it actually flashes while moving around because of the postprocess effect. And final_rage is just a wreck..

Edit: BTW, I did have antialiasing on... The postprocess doesn't seem to care ;)

Only Silver City seems to look bad. SCRATCH, Silver City only looks kind of bad, no worse than it already does. I really like this post process effect.

Quite badly. About from 185 to 110-ish at full "reflection" quality... At the lowest quality I'm getting 155 fps, but it doesn't look as pretty then :P Mind you I'm standing next to it, and fps isn't of course affected elsewhere on the map...

There are probably ways to optimize it like doing everything in one render, but it seems like that's an _extremely_ hard thing to do.
