They're the standard gib models, just with a new skin.

  • I cant wait until I can map to that level of skill. I'm just bad at design is all :P

Might try to remake a location that I know, like Glasgow Central or something.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

Lights just what i threw in there to see anything tbh :P Some day i may be able to get your level of detail in my light.. maybe ;) Texures are leftovers from the 2048 mapping contest. i made... alost of textures for that one :P

aI: I like those textures, ill have a swing with em in radiant later and see how they work out. could you render one variation w/o girt/blood too?

  • Those are interesting, primarily because I wanted to make a map in the style of a slaughter house. Like a Strogg organ processing factory from Quake 2.

  • @[-z-]: wow. nice pimping the wicked style. I love the color scheme and the additional logos. /me wants.

@ai: Looking good. The normal map seems a bit too flat, but i'd have to judge that ingame. MapZone is a nice little tool. I should spend some more time with it as well ;)

  • It's a pity that DarkPlaces doesn't deal correctly with the borders of animated reflecting surfaces. This white "noise" on your second pic doesn't look very good imo. Have you thought about replacing the water with a simple mirror texture (not animated) or a semi-reflecting floor (me thinks about ths starship-floor-effect without the transparency)? I believe it could fit the theme and support the marble look you've got going on there with the floor.

And please choose a more trim-like texture for the arch in the last pic. The organic looking rock-texture there doesn't fit the architecture. Some outlines at the edges do wonder 8)

Overall i really like the style. Nice and fresh approaches. And i know how difficult it is to create some convincing textures. That's one reason why i never really did textures on my own. The textures you made are better then everything texture-wise i ever created ;) Can't wait to jump through this halls.

  • stromboli-
a really useful technique is to have a good front and side picture of someone's face and use them as a guide when modelling. if you take a look at this tutorial you'll see how it's done. (it's a subsurf tutorial, but it would work for low-poly too).
