I have an idea... I committed a small feature to official Nexuiz that extends the "impulse 99" cheat to not only give you all the weapons, 999 health and 999 armor, but also teleport you to where you have put your personal waypoint (g_waypointsprite_personal) if you have done so previously. So you run to the flag, deploy your waypoint, and then before each speedrun attempt, you do impulse 99.
Now this is more health than you usually get, but I suppose it doesn't really matter as health drops over time anyway.
So maybe in the future, impulse 99 should be allowed - but no god mode? Deadly stuff like on facing worlds would then still kill you, lava swimming is too deadly either way, and I can't think of anything else where it would matter; only exception: in-air rocket detonations. Of course, if you allow that, you should not allow impulse 99 INSIDE the speedrun, just BEFORE it. And when playing back a demo, you can always see where impulse 99 was being used.
If you want, I can make the teleporting to waypoint a special impulse, but I don't really think it's necessary, due to the arguments I named.
Of course, one can only have one personal waypoint, but still, using that impulse INSIDE a speedrun must be forbidden.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again
You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
