    ........................................
To be considered for this tournament submit the form on http://nullgaming.com
    ........................................

The first ever North American Nexuiz 1v1 Tournament will consist of 16 players. This tournament will be invite only, with following tournaments using a qualifying round and a larger roster to allow for more players. Alternates will be chosen for when a player does not show or can't play their match for whatever reason.

Invites will be handed out between the dates of 07.07.07 through 07.14.07. There will be a week between signup completion and the start of the tournament. This allows for some 1v1 practice. 1v1 gameplay is very different than regular deathmatch play. Those who don't normally play 1v1 are advised to practice for it specifically as the focus is more about map control.

The tournament will last three days, starting on the evening of 07.20.07 and ending on the evening of 07.22.07.

The official rules, tournament brackets, results, ending screenshots and demos will be displayed on the Nexuiz Tournament Site, provided by Morfar (thanks Morfar!)

If you have any questions, post on this thread or ask in IRC chat.

This thread is for discussion of the tournament.
I'll be posting updates and information here and on http://www.nullgaming.com

  • The servers will be the 1v1 ladder servers (NY and GA) that are on the public server list.

If anyone else has a server they can submit to the pool for 1v1, please let me know.

  • We've got these players confirmed so far, with two more players either being considered for the tourney or as alternates. We should have a full list by the end of the week.

Most US players don't frequent the forum, so I have to catch them on the public servers.

  • That's not a bug.
The form isn't important enough to use validation.

  • I get like 250 spam emails a day, on a good day. It only takes 5 seconds to kill 40 blank form emails. :-P

Hmm...I'm now imagining Psych creating a script that continuously submits to the form...you bastard. :-)

Which, of course, would not prove the need for validation. You could create a script that submits valid information just the same.

  • We've got 8 people confirmed with 4 more people being considered. (I'll update the list later tonight...at work right now). We should be able to fill out the roster by the end of the week.

One of the highly touted players in the tournament is Usil 666, who may be the "Kojn" equivalent in North America. We shall see.

I'm still trying to get Dresk in the tournament, who is another highly skilled Nexuiz player in the US. For those who don't know Dresk, he programmed his own mod (spidflisk) and prefers to play that over regular Nexuiz. He recently said he's ditching Nexuiz because people aren't interested in his mod, and now he's focusing on a a Quake3 mod. I still have some hope that I can get him involved in the tournament though. Who knows.

If you know of any decent Nexuiz players in North America, point them to this thread or to this site : http://www.nullgaming.com

  • Thanks Mr_Carlyle.

    Also...
I notified people (on Nullgaming.com and in email) of the basic playing schedule for the weekend. I think that may be revised a bit for Saturday. I had stated that it would begin around 2:30pm EST Saturday afternoon. It seems that may be too early for some of the players.

I guess we'll see who is still in the tournament at the end of Friday night and find out what everyone's schedule will be like on Saturday.

Note: It is vital for EVERYONE IN THE TOURNAMENT TO JOIN IRC so we can all chat in the same place. http://www.nullgaming.com/irc.html
This is needed to participate in the tourney.

  • Alright the tourney is about to start. Looks like it's a bad turn out and we'll have to go with 8 players.

  • As has been requested, sv_public has been set to 0 on my ladder servers
    addresses are as follows:

    GA: 64.22.107.122:26001
    NY: 216.248.193.207:26001

and somehow, the NY server replicated itself in a new process, and since it was being used, I'll leave it up for the remainder of the tournament, the address is:

    NY2: 216.248.193.207:26002

    Just a heads up.

sv_public will go back to 1 after tournament.

  • Excellent. Thank you Willis :-)
    That was very helpful.

Ok, update. We got off to a very rough start in the first North American 1v1 Nexuiz tournament. Various people did a drop out or a no-show. We ended up with 8 players to work with.

The rounds went off to a rocket start with [I]Target having to jump out early for some reason and there seems to be a bug in the tournaments system that does not allow some people to post match results. Anyway, it's all a good learning experience and here are the results so far...

We'll probably finish this tourney tomorrow. We have plenty of time now that the number of players was cut in half.
