About the splitting of the FOTM competitions, for this month this would mean Xandria would win the Minsta one just by entering Probably a good idea once a lot more people start entering in the competition. I'm afraid that if we sp[lit it now, the competitions will die on their arse with only 2 or 3 entries per mode. So, instead of getting your friends to vote for you here [which is also perfectly fine with me, the more people see this thread and the forum the better] maybe try to get them to post their frags here as well :] If you play a lot of minsta which I believe you do, get those players to come in here and post a vid of a nice frag they made that month. As soon as we start having more entries for minsta, dm, etc will it be useful to split the competitions and not have them die instantly.

Last month a single nex shot won the competition, even though that was a DM match. It would have still won if it had been a minsta shot I guarantee you

Also, I am certainly not someone to underrate a good minsta player. I am impressed with the hit rate some of you folks achieve. I have seen people string 30 frags together in 1 minute 10 seconds Awesome stuff.

I know I'll be needing to gather more people. But the friend thing I believe could become an issue where the same person dominates the competition. Unfortunate reality is that there are a lot of people who will be in this to win and not for fun. Yep I'm probably one of them.

Without splitting the competition this could be done:

Everyone applies but we categorize everything.

Overall Best Frag:
Best (insert weapon here shot):

So rather than single players out which I will admit may have been a bad idea on my part we could use the weapon shots because having Minsta players only for one half and CTF for another half would eliminate any CTF player using the Nex. So maybe using the weapon category would be better.

There could be some unwritten rule whereas if there is only one entry under a weapon category there is no competition for that month for that weapon,

I still think a judging panel would be the better idea for it all, the panel could alternate and change every week giving every user the chance to decide fate. That may interest more people too.

So there would be categoric winners and overall winners giving a lot more people recognition and helping people to come here knowing the chances of some success have just been made higher.

So what we have here is a solution to the friends thing and a possible way of getting more people interested either by making it a fully accessable power for all, equality competition.

Just my view. Feel free to disagree. I can't guarentee I'm right.

For me I don't give a flying fuck who wins. I just wanna see nice/funny/darn lucky frags.

Imho that's the whole point of this. Not the who's the most 1337.

Thats the issue with getting more people involved I believe, competitions are competitive, thats the general idea IMO.

It wouldn't eliminate any stupid/funny/lucky frags, just adding more to it because thats what a competition is!

Of course I can always be wrong. We need to place this more in the public eye. There are more players who get involved in games/competitions to win than for the taking part in it.

Adapting is a good move based upon how many people could be brought here because of some minor changes. Believe me no matter what game you play. If it's Anything from Mario Kart to Nexuiz theres more people who play to win.

And that's what missing from Nexuiz, and that's why I like it so much.
FOTM for me is some kinda "Show us your frags" like thread, I like the idea that it's monthly based, so it's always kept alive.
And for me, the "competition" part is not really a race. Just whoever has the most jaw-dropping one, get's te title. Hooray. Being the first winner doesn't mean anything for me. It's just like I had the best OF THE BEST in that month. Hooray. All the other frags were hilarious too.

And in my point of view: when I see one frag, the first thing that comes to my mind: "wtf, dude, awesome shot, grats!"
This is what a friendly "showing up" brings.

And not:
"Wtf is special in that, I can do that too!"
And this is what competition brings sooner or later.

Don't get me wrong, I don't entirely disagree, Actually I don't disagree at all. I'm just looking at the alternatives to getting this more active and involving more people.

As we already seen, We do have a few people who come here just to say.. Yap I can do that better than you.

That isn't whats needed at all. It could be both fun and competition as long as it's kept on a friendly level.

That is not true. You invited this people to do so when saying you did something special, that could never be done again. Which was just plain wrong.
