I proudly announce that the doors have finally opened to the beginning of a new, great tournament. There will be two tournaments running simultaniously, one dedicated to players from Europe, one for players from North America. However, you can only play in one tournament at the same time.

The signups will be open for 2 weeks. They will be closed on Sunday, September 7th.

From now on, please make sure that you

• have a regular look at this tournament page, since there is no email notification about any incoming PMs (personal messages), upcoming matches, schedule changes, rule changes, etc.,
• try to spend as much time as possible in IRC (QuakeNet, channel: #nexuiz.tourney ) so that you can be contacted by your opponents or you can contact them yourself,
• read the How does this work page again,
• read the schedule page,
• have a look which maps you have to play for each specific round in the group stage by looking at the Map cycle page.

Please keep in mind that the schedule mentioned on the schedule page is very strict. This means that at the end of the deadline of each round, the games of this round have to be played. If a game was not played, the admins will have to judge who will get the default win. Usually the player who was spotted in the IRC channel looking for his/her opponent will then get the win.

However, you should try to play your matches as fast as possible, which means that you should try to be even ahead of the schedule. An example would be that in the first week (in which the matches of round 1 must be finished) you play your matches of the rounds 1 and 3, and in the 2nd week you play your match of the 2nd round. In the third week you wouldn't have to play any matches then. If all players did this, we would probably not need a third week anymore to get all three rounds done.
Of course, you could also play all of your three matches right away in the first week, or just play the one required match per week.

The first week of the tournament has been a great success so far. Most of the round 1 matches have been played, as well as half of the round 2 and 3 matches. With only 15 (EU) and 16 (NA) matches left to play, we decided to prepone the round 3 matches to the 2nd week. This means, that all round 2 and 3 matches have to be played from Monday, 15th of September to Sunday, 21st of September! By doing this, we can get the tourney done already one week faster, and if everything goes well in the future, we can probably prepone future bracket rounds as well.
