  • Oh, you expect it to create it... maybe later :P creating directories isn't exactly easy... especially if you want to detect errors correctly. Writing it to TODO. For now, just create the directory in advance.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Well I expect it to create it since it says "mkdir"...

Anyway, q3map2 already creates <mapname>/ to store lightmaps in.

  • Yes, but the mkdir() system call only creates ONE directory, and not all on the way to it.

    But try current svn code.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

There's no way to pass the equivalent of "-p"? lol

    Editable key binds!

You can enable some otherwise hidden or hard to reach features using it, like color scheme switching, and texture copy/paste.

  • How about the patch mesh column/row append functions in DarkRadiant?

What append does is it adds columns/rows onto an end of a patch mesh(beginning or end), rather than insert or add inside of the patch mesh. It's incredibly useful for generating intricate pipes.

  • Is there a specific place/forum/maillist for development of netradiant? I'd like to create and submit Warsow packages and collaborate some code patches in the future.

  • Not yet, but to be created. For now, just use this forum for that.

As for Warsow packages - keep in mind that, to be able to distributed together with NetRadiant, the game packs must be GPL compatible. Especially, that means they may contain no content under a Creative Commons license. For this, it is not required that Warsow has a free license - but as it does not, the game pack may contain no media from Warsow unless you have explicit permission from its copyright holder to release it also under the GPL.

Of course, the only files needed for a game pack that originate from the game are entities.def, anything else is either written by the author of the game pack, or is not needed. The Q3A pack for example contains some prefabs and textures from Q3A, which are not released under any license and thus the Q3A pack can't be included with NetRadiant yet. But as Warsow is acttively developed, you can simply choose to distribute the prefabs and such stuff separately, or together with Warsow instead of with NetRadiant. In that case, you only have to ask the author of your current entities.def file, and he'll sure be okay with that.

If you have your own svn repository, I can set it up so you can maintain your game pack on your own, using a svn:externals reference.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

  • Don't worry. I'm a Warsow developer and I even did the entities.def file myself, so no prob :)

I really want to make a new Warsow game pack for netradiant cause the one included with gtkradiant 1.5 has become too old, specially the default compile options produce a too low quality result, and I'm bored of saying to the mappers to replace files in gtkradiant :/

Also some of the q3map2 fixes you did are very useful for Warsow. I think Nexuiz and Warsow are the only games which use deluxemapping as main option. And I love you for the misc_model collision fixes (I didn't test it yet, but I do rely a lot on terrain models lately. I think you won't find anyone more familiar than me with falling through model triangles).

Later on I really want to do some contributions to the editor too.

EDIT: I'll check about the external svn repo. We're moving right now and things are a bit messy.

EDIT2: God, how can you read anything in the building output :P

  • BTW, I had to add

    ifeq ($(OS),Windows_NT)
    OS = Win32
    endif

    for building in xp64

  • As for the building output - a long term project would be getting rid of all the warnings left in by id software :(

  • Hmm. In here, Netradiant's q3map2 is crashing with a exception when exiting after each compile step. It does with the one I compiled and also with the precompiled binaries I downloaded. Damnit, I have no clue how to set up mingw for getting debug output, and I making a msvc workspace is a mess, that's going to be a problem

  • I'd need your map files to verify that... but does it write working BSP files anyway?

  • Happens with all map files. Checking it more I saw it's not just at exit, but crashes twice at vis proccess. Anyway, it could be my fault since I'm testing it with Warsow's game pack, I need to experiment more, and I don't really have time atm. I'll be back to you with more info in a few days.

Is this shortcut editing already in netradiant, or is it something you just added?, if it is where could i get it?

  • It's in. See http://www.icculus.org/netradiant/files/

However, the current build isn't linked to the main page yet, as I have trouble making the source tarball on icculus.org's server (its svn refuses to check out DarkplacesPack).

  • After upgrading to gtk2-2.16.0-1 (arch) I have some troubles with Edit->Preferences window.
Each writing to .netradiant/1.5.0/nexuiz.game/local.pref sets Texture Gamma to value of 0.0.
All textures in the Texture Browser and Camera Window get white then.
I cant change this value to something else in Preferences, so I have to edit local.prefs by hand
    and change '<epair name="SI_Gamma">0</epair>' to 1.
I'm using netradiant-svn 246-1, but the same happens with older packages too,
which worked fine before (with gtk2-2.14.7-2).
I suppose gtk2 upgrade caused this, but can't tell it for sure.

  • Sorry, svn 308 does not exist - this file name was the script making builds going wrong.

Ideally, use the svn repository. The current revision is 249.

  • Calling Nexuiz from Radiant does not work, as Nexuiz uses different command line options from Quake 3 Arena. The map works anyway, you just have to load it in Nexuiz manually.

  • As for that Gtk problem - as it'll take some while till Ubuntu has this package, I'd need shell access to a machine that exhibits the bug. I think I can then fix it once I have caught it in gdb.
