  • AloAh everyone,

i want to exchange 3D Objects from blender to netradiant. But if i export obj or md2 files, netradiant isnt able to import these files over [right mouse click] -> misc -> misc_model.

Maybe i use the wrong settings for obj files?

  • The only way i got this model to netradiant, was to export it over blender as map file.

  • To include a model in your map, right click the grid and choose misc > misc_model or misc > misc_gamemodel. I forget the difference offhand.

It should be md3, md2, mdl, ase, or obj

  • Ya that is what i tryed! Blender only allows to export obj,map or md2 files. All other fileformats dont work, only the map format. But you see in my second forum post here what happend, when i importet a map file.

  • In your obj export settings, you should select "Material Groups", and probably "Triangulate", if your model doesn't already exist of only triangles.
You also can deselect "Rotate X90", when your model has the right orientation in Blender.

BTW, this dog model seems to be EXTREMELY high poly (obj file > 1MB?), so be careful with its (over)usage in a map.

  • Okay I tryed these settings and i gave the dog lower polygons. The same problem happens, when i load it as .map file. And its not possible to import the obj file. Here are my settings i used for the obj file in Blender->

and that is what happens, when i importet it into netradiant ->

  • Okay now i got it! BIG THX 2 cortez666! My Hero of the day <3 xD

You have to put all obj files to Nexuiz/data/models/ and than import them over netradiant.
    [right mouse click] -> misc -> misc_model.

  • To texture the model you just simply create a texture based on it's UVs and then put the texture file into 'Nexuiz/textures/'. However, to get a more definite answer try PMing Morfar. He has made so that my models (the flags among with others) showed up in Radiant with textures (however, in a newer version that support no longer exists :P). Not quite sure what he did but at least it worked.
The reason why I say PM morfar is that he might not see this thread otherwise.

    Cheers.

  • Name the material your texturename (without the .png .tga etc)

    For example.
Say your texture will be in nexuiz/data/textures/doggie.tga

You will name your material doggie
(It will say MA:doggie in the box thing.)

You then have to unwrap into uvmap, export that template as doggie.tga (or png, or jpg, whatever you want). Then you draw on that texture.

Most exporters work the way I described, some don't, look for the blender .zip thing that was posted on the development or editing forum: it has a fixed md3 exporter that does the texture correctly and simply.
