  • Hi everyone,

Just installed Nexuiz and all looks great. With the exception of the invisible enimy running arround. I'm sure you know what it feels like to run for a weapon only fo find out that it's shooting at you.

Any hints regarding this would be welcome.

    :)

  • I'm not sure to what you are reffering. In old versions (really old) there was a bug that made some players invisible, but thas been fixed for ages. There is a mutator called minstagib (nex only) that has a powerup that makes you invisible for a limited about of time, might that be it?

  • Hmmm, honestly wouldn't know.

I've looked for settings that might affect this, but have not found anything that indicates something about invisibility.

I've been trying things out on the first episode of the campaign, and am yet to see something that does not look like a random gun floating around.

This mutator... is there a way to disable it?

  • The mutator is really a game mode, and must be started spesifically, so unless you are playing a game of "minstagib deathmatch/CTF/dom/whatever" you should not be affected, this is strated when you enter the game in the welcome screen.

Is this invisibility something you see often? I know at least one of the maps in the campaign is minstagib, so you might have seen it there. but then also the gun shuold have been invisible.

That you have a version of nexuiz that also has campaing, means the version is far to new to have this bug i am talking about any more.

Can you please inform us about what hardware you are using, and wich version of windows? I assume you are using windows?

Also can you please make a screenshot (using f12, the images are stored in the data dir under your nexuiz folder) and provide that to us, that would be helpful.

  • Unless you have a REALLY old Nexuiz version (2.2.1 is the current one and versions that have a campaing like you mentioned are not REALLY old..) this sounds like a graphic driver problem. But sofar i only heard about such a thing on linux only if the driver install was corrupt..
What system, graphic card do you have?
If running windows did you try to use nexuiz.exe and nexuiz-sdl.exe?

  • Another thing that just struk me.. It is possible that you are missing textures, i.e that your download partially failed, but a screenshot would show us that too.

  • Seems i was too slow so i missed your post regarding linux..
    please try: glxinfo | grep -i 'direct\|vendor'
in the console and see if it says: direct rendering: yes
and also if it says something about nvidia or ati .. if it mentions mesa thats bad then indeed something with your drivers is wrong..

  • There is a setting in the development version, that "simulates" the old bug tChr mentioned. It shouldn't even be in the released version yet, but since it's better to be safe than sorry:
open the ingame console (press shift+esc) and enter "g_running_guns". If the response is "command not found", it's not that setting that causes your problem. If it prints anything else, enter "g_running_guns 0".

  • All may breathe easy.

This was solved by downloading the new NVidia driver and following the process for instalation on SuSE 10.1.

This would probably have worked with the old driver I had aswell. I suspect that the problem arose when I installed SDL through a native source compilation. The old NVidia driver was still in effect after the new SDL was installed.

I suspect therefore that a recompilation of the NVIdia drivers was responsible for fixing the problem rathing than getting the latest and greatest driver.

Thanks for all the help. Nice to know there is this kind of support for the game :)
