  • Hi, I've been using Nexuiz since some weeks, and I find it very nice. However, I encounter some bugs with the movements of the player. I mean that sometimes, the keyboard and the mouse do not answer and if the player was going to the left, he keeps on going to it, whatever I do!! Therefore it is impossible to defend myself or avoid burning in lava or falling into the dark deep space...
I encountered his problem on Windows XP Pro with Radeon X300/X550 and on Ati Radeon 9600 Pro. Please, could you tell me what to do to avoid this problem? My drivers are up to date and I have directX 9.0c.

  • Well you could try to test nexuiz.exe or if you are using that one test nexuiz-sdl.exe .. both use different ways to talk with the hardware and sometimes one of them works better.
An other thing you can try is gl_finish 1. That means to open the ingame console with shift-escape and entering this into it. It often helps with input problems.. (if that does not help you can set it back to 0)

Oh and of course welcome to Nexuiz and the forum :)

  • I sometimes have the same problem, but I always thought it was either my connection (which was weird as I had good ping and 0 PL) or that it was the server, but I never saw anyone else on that server with the same problem nor did they complain. But it didn't happen to me too much so I didn't bother mentioning it. Though there was this one time where it constantly were doing that, but on the same time my ISP was acting up so I assumed it had to do with that.

Or that it was some kind of virus that did something to my winXP, scanned and found nothing though.

  • well, I sometimes have that, as well as my colleague. I think tis due to bad inet connection. hitting the jump button like hell mostly helps... :P

  • Well its possible that either of those two can result in such problems but r_finish is changeable, bad connection is not.. and bad connection is sometimes even hard to diagnose.. Some ISP throttle some ports though i doubt 26000 is one of them as its also used by quake and i doubt ISPs want to be known to hinder quake gaming :)
And normally you share ISP resources with others and there is no way to see how this affects you. And in general stuff like WLAN is just bad for gaming..
