  • Im using:
    Ubuntu Edgy (6.10), 32bit
    Gnome w/ Beryl under Xgl
    ATi X800XT, fglrx driver

Well, a lot of ppl seem to have several problems with this combination, but nevertheless I had no problems at all so far. Beryl runs fine AND I can start OpenGL games, i.E. "Sauerbraten" runs fully accelerated, without the need of special hacks (like "nonXgl"). Also Nexuiz is accelerated - but all map textures are broken, everything looks weird, effects dont work well as it seems. Its the only GL-game I know where this appears.

This isnt a major problem for me - in a usual gnome session (regular X-Server without beryl), Nexuiz looks amazing. But if anybody knows a little trick I would be happy to hear ,-)

    thanks

  • Solved it myself.

    seta vid_x11_display "0"

does the trick. On display :1.0 is no acceleration available, which caused the weird graphics. I was wrong that Nexuiz was accelerated obviously it wasnt.

  • neat-O

I've just been using the "radeon" driver on my x300 and using aiglx instead of xgl.

  • Well, if he sets it to 0, Nexuiz will use display :0 even if $DISPLAY is set to :1 - which is exactly what he needed.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
