  • I've got a 19' wide screen, so 800x600 is a bit sad :s

  • I dont think resolution is that big problem with your video card. As the Geforce FX Series quite sucks with the openGL 2.0 shaders, you should just disable them in the effects menue and get a lot more frames hopefully.

If it's still to few fps then, just use a preset by opening the console with <shift+esc> and typing

    exec low.cfg <enter>
    vid_restart <enter>

  • I've got a 17" widescreen laptop at 1400x900, but I want a good frame rate, so 800x600 it is.

800x600 should stretch to fill up your 19" screen.

If you are running Linux and it does not, then you need to change your xorg.conf settings

BTW, are you running Linux? Or Windows?

But 720x450 would be worth a try. It's not a standard resolution, but you can manually enter it if you open the console (shift+esc) and enter:
    Code: Select all
    vid_width 720
    vid_height 450
    vid_restart

    Edit:

Yes, it will with most display drivers & dfps, but it will have a totally wrong a/r and the dfp's interpolation will make it look blurry.

    I will try the 720 x 450 when I get home.
