  • 1) I played on an instagib server: when the nexgun runs out of ammo, a countdown starts forcing me to find ammo; if I grab ammo the countdown stops but the ammo is not added to the ammo count (which remains 0) and I can't use the nex anymore until someone kills me and I respawn.

    2) How can I know my ping? If I open the console and type ping (or was it pings?) it says that my ping is 0, which is not true.

    3) How can I know if the server I'm playing on has antilag enabled?

    This is weird. I've not experienced it.Does this happen every time?

    1) is a know bug IF you have weapon autoswitch off. I get bitten by it sometimes too. But its fixed for 1.5.1 which should be out really soon now :)
    2) yeah ping is the command. the output depends on the sys_ticrate on the server. That variables controls how often the server calculates things and sends updates to the clients. Ping 0 means usualy ping is between 0 and 20 which is good ;). One would need changes on the server to have a better ping. Or persuade LordHavoc to make something better.
    You can use bind X +scores that will do the same thing as tab by default but also show the ping as if you had typed the command in the console. So you can see the scoreboard and the ping at the same time. Its however not integreated into the scoreboard and thats ugly. And also the reason its not the default. But at least its a start.
    3) Hmm i can't think of a way..

    That's a know bug with minstagib in 1.5 :(
    It occurs when you have turned "weapon autoswitch" off. It is already fixed for the next release, but for the moment the only solution is to turn on autoswitch before you connect to a minstagib server.

    Yes, it is "ping" on the console. When it says "0" you are lucky ;)
    Actually the pings reported on the console are depending on the servers ticrate. At default ticrate they are always multiples of 50, so 0 ping means your ping is somewhere between 0 and 49.

    3) How can I know if the server I'm playing on has antilag enabled?

    You can't unless the server admin has put that info in the hostname or motd.

    esteel: but the ping is a multiple of 50, not 20 (1000*sys_ticrate = 1000*0.05 = 50 :D)
    And there is no reason to pester LordHavoc to change that, because the value shown is your effective lag...

    Hmm you are right about the first thing.. but having ping integrated into the scoreboard would be nice ;)
    LordHavoc said it would need a few small protocol changes.

    I think that's a kwite important thang, I'd really appreciate it. Me and my (speechless) friend StaniD are often lagged by our company LAN. We could get along with the lag if 1. ping is under 300 and 2. know how strong the lag is. So we could calculate the time between triggering/shooting.

    You'd wet Your pants laughing if You would see us sometimes, Stani battleing and me with opened console, typing "ping <enter>" and shouting out the values to support him :mrgreen:
