  • So, I'm gonna post an issue which is probably a known one. I'm playing some matches online every lunch break, most of the times together with one or sometimes more colleagues. We are all in a LAN and going outside with a M$ exchange server and a hardware firewall. So we all are using of course all the same IP. And this seems to be the problem for the game servers. It happens more and more often that at only one of us is logging in again when one map ended and the server switches to a new map. The other one(s) is kicked and can't join for a certain time, sometimes you even have to restart Nexuiz before you get in.

I haven't kept the exact messages from the server in mind, the console says the server sended a challenge request which is responded and those two messages are repeated in a loop, until it says that the connection failed (or somethign).

This happens I think mainly when the server switches to custom maps, even if the map is already in the dlcache.

Would be nice if this problem would be solved some fine day in a future version :)

  • perhaps setting up a server in your company might solve the problem ;)

  • It can't be solved - it is actually thinking a connect flood happens. That had to be added because someone wrote an "exploit" that connects more and more clients and keeps a server busy.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

We already ran such a server. We were quite lonesome there cuz either our firewall kept other players away or it was terribly highpinged due to our grand quality internet connection (even though its a 16M S-DSL one). :?

Well, thanks diV for your explanation, after all we know why that happens. And as I already said, maybe one fine shiny day a better solution from a geniushead r teh come... :D

  • There is just no way to see that this is NOT a connect flood... but Nexuiz 2.3 won't disconnect during map downloads, which should at least reduce that.

Now thats something to be waiting for, great.

Isnt there a way to en/disable the flood detection server side?
