  • Hi,
I have big framerate problems on maps which use glass (e.g. floors of glass). What can I do to switch the new glass reflection effect off? The low setting didnt switch it off.

The new glass effect looks really good but my framerate drops from ~100 to ~10.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Im not sure you can. The effect is coused by improved q3 shader support, enviroment maping to be precise. This is a fairly oldschool effect and should afaik not have a big impact on framerate.. are you sure its the glass effect thats slowing things down?

<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
    <Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D

No way that could impact framerate much, it's an ordinary 2D texture like any other, just with some funky texture coordinate math done the cpu.

Try gl_vbo 0 (incase your driver really hates dynamic texcoord array with a VBO vertex array).

  • The option LordHavoc mentioned is also in the Option/Video menu.. its called Vertex Buffer Objects. But i would except you to have problems on most maps if that thing really were bad for you graphic card. Its worth a try though.
