OK, I just installed the game in Ubuntu 7.04 via Synaptic, and for some reason as soon as I enter the game, my character just looks straight up. I can pull it back down with the mouse, but it just keeps trying to make it go upwards. Any ideas?

Do you have two screens?
Do you have a joystick?
Try on the console (shift-escape): joy_enable 0
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again
You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

I think the joystick support gives you problems.. either try to unstick you joystick if you have one or just disable the support in Nexuiz. Open the nexuiz-console with shift-esacpe and type
joy_enable 0
joystick 0
The engine does support joysticks but noone bothered to give it menu support and it seems to do that sometimes.. Maybe we should disable it by default.

I have both a joystick and dual screens. Disabling joystick support worked

Thanks!

Hmmm I have a joystick connected to my PC as well... But I don't have such a problem (I am also a Linux user) ...
How come? (If someone knows - I am interested in the technical reason)

Different kind of joystick? Afaik force feedback joysticks don't go back to a "neutral position" when they are not activated, maybe that's what causing the constant movement?

Maybe... It's a USB Joystick which normally doesn't require calibration.

perhaps we should make "joy_enable 0" & "joystick 0 " the default?

That will probably also get rid of the "no joystick found" error message in startup console?

Problably not, since default.cfg is read pretty late during the startup process...
