  • I recently discovered Nexuiz and I'm enjoying it a lot so far. However I'm having serious crashing/freezing problems. After playing a few minutes online Nexuiz suddenly freezes and does not response anymore. Somehow the ram usage (according to the windows 'Task Manager') is above 800MB although I only have 512MB ram in this system. Oddly, even when entering the Main menu the ram usage goes up to ca. 612MB. I followed the instructions for ati users in the changelog and I tried to play with the default and lowest settings available but that didn't change anything.

    My specs:
    AMD Athlon 3000+
    512MB ram
    ATI 9600 256MB

My brother hasn't had any problems playing Nexuiz on an old laptop yet. He is even able to get higher framerates although his specs are far lower than mine. Note that he is playing on Kubuntu.

    His specs:
AMD CPU equivalent to mine (not sure which one he has :) )
    256MB ram
    Nvidia GeForce MX440

Not sure wether this information helps though. Is there any way to print the console output to an external file (in case there is any of the crash)?

  • Well nvidia drivers always have had better performance then ati stuff but the know 'problems' of ati drivers are the vertex buffers and the opengl 2.0 shaders which you said you tried to disable. Right now i do not have an other idea, but you could try and see if there are new driver versions available..

Either start Nexuiz with the parameter +log_file yourpreferredlogfilenamehere.log or set the variable log_file in the console accordingly (open console in the menu using Shift+Escape)

    or a shortcut with

    Code: Select all
    Nexuiz\nexuiz.exe" -developer -condebug"

will find a log called qconsole.log in \data

  • @above posters: Thanks for taking the time to post here.

However the logifle doesn't contain any error. I gave the latest ati drivers a try but I can't seem to be able to get an opengl app working at all.
