  • I've just started trying out Nexuiz - poking around some maps with bots - and I keep getting stuck going in one of three directions (right, left or back). It's as if the keyboard is stuck because it continues when I'm respawned (which happens a lot since I can't control my dude). It seems to go away if I stop pressing any keys and then press and release just the key that seems stuck. I've tried several keyboards including a brand new one, so I don't think it's actual sticking keys, but I'm not sure what could be causing it. I haven't seen the problem in anything else (although I don't game much).

    Any ideas?

    TIA

  • I have also experienced this, but only if the system changes focus to another window when I'm holding a key down. Do you have any applications that grabs focus when playing?

Another thing is that some (most) keyboards have limitations to wich keys can be pressed at the same time. Try reconfiguring your kayboard to navigate with say.. rdfg instead of wasd.

  • When I use the same keyboard (I'm using a KVM) and key controls on my Mac, I don't get the "stuck" key problem, so it can't be the keyboard. So what on the Windows side could cause this? I don't have any programs open, and the only time the system changes focus is for the firewall when I start Nexuiz up.

I do have an "odd" configuration (I use [space] for forward and [alt] for back and [w], [s], [d] for grapple, jump and crouch), so I have the [alt] key down a lot, but that key is [cmmd] on the Mac which I would expect to cause all sorts of problems. Could someone else try this control set to see if that is the issue?

I'd just use the Mac, but it's only a Mini, so the video stinks (jumpy).
