  • Everytime I deal damage in Nexuiz, I hear a high-pitched beep, or tone. My linux friend says he doesn't hear it. Is it normal? It happens in both nexuiz and nexuiz-sdl.

I have a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music, latest DX, Geforce 8800GTX, and Windows XP.

  • Is there any way to remove this sound?

  • if you do damage to someone else you hear that sound, that is correct. I dunno if it can be deactivated.

  • It's kind of useful cuz I know when I've hurt someone, but I'd still rather have the option of removing it, or at least changing it to a softer sound or something, hehe.

  • It's not a thunk. It's a high tone.

    I think it's a wav file located inside \nexuiz\data\data20070531.pk3

Rename data20070531.pk3 to data20070531.zip and you should be able to open it

I think the wav is sound/misc/hit.wav And you can replace it , just keep the same name "hit.wav"

Don't forget to rename the data20070531.zip file back to data20070531.pk3 when done

You may want to backup your nexuiz folder first just in case you break Nexuiz

  • no need to mess around with data.pk3.... Just put an empty file hit.wav in Nexuiz/data/sound/misc/
