  • I'm having a problem with the bestweapon console command. It seems to work for some weapons but not for others. More specifically, the mortor (4), electro (5) and the hagar (8) aren't recognized. Also, the nex (7) is recognized sometimes but not others.

    Here is the config script I am using:

    Code: Select all
    //best close weapon
    bind "3" "bestweapon 3 2 6 5 9 8 4 7 1 ; echo close"
    //best sniper weapon
    bind "4" "bestweapon 7 3 9 8 6 5 4 2 1 ; echo sniper"
    // best splash weapon
    bind "r" "bestweapon 9 8 6 5 4 3 2 1 7 ; echo splash"

    I also tried with the numbers all run together as shown in examples in the forum, but it didn't work at all. When I spaced them out I thought that solved it. After using it for a while though I realized that some of the weapons I picked up weren't being recognized.

    My computer is an Intel iMac with OS 10.4.10 and Nexuiz 2.3.

    I appreciate any workarounds or fixes. Thank you.

  • The bestweapon command is only for Quake. In Nexuiz, it assumes the weapons use the same ammo as in Quake, so it sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

    You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Darn! That is a really cool feature when it works.

    Well, if there is a wish list I hope the developers will add bestweapon in there.

    Are there any possible workarounds? I'm just getting into scripting config files so I don't know if this is something I could make into an alias. If there was a way to check what weapons are being carried, I could put something together.

  • No, not possible using scripting. It will be possible when we can make client side commands for that (using CSQC), probably in Nexuiz 3.0.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again
