  • I downloaded it the first time and I never loaded I just got a black screen and it wont go

away, I waited and still nothing happened.

Then the 2nd time I tryed 6 times to start and all it does is say nexuiz has encountered

a problem and needs to close, and I click debug and send error report down at the

bottom but it still does the same thing. :?

Then when I tryed the Nexuiz-sdl it just goes black then my

computer goes back to normal and pretty much nothing happens.

  • Can you try getting the details out of the error report and post them here?
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Seriously... can you somehow get the text out of the dialog completely? It is the interesting part.

However, from what I can already see, the crash didn't happen inside Nexuiz, but inside your graphics driver. Is a newer version available? Which SiS chipset are you using?

  • Well, if you really got an Nvidia graphics card, it wouldn't say you have a SiS 760. Okay, a possibility: you have an Nvidia built in, but plugged your display cable into the connector of the onboard graphics card (which is a SiS...)

With a SiS 760 you might forget about playing any 3D game actually.

It may be very useful for us if you tell us something about your computer. Is it a laptop, a desktop? Please tell us as much as you are able to find out...

  • Well all the games that I play and downlaod are always 3d games.

    I dont have a laptop I have a desktop a flatscreen computer.

Umm I dont know how to get the other info but I played alot of 3d games.

This is the only one it seems to mess up on...

    Heres what it says:
    Product-------------------Current Installed Driver
    SiS 760--------------------------------0.0

    Recommended Driver
Your PC currently has the latest driver installed for your GPU. No driver update is necessary at this time.

  • Now please press the "Start" Button, choose "run" (or what's the corresponding command in your language) and type in DXDIAG then enter. A window with a DirectX Diagnostic program pops up and soon you can choose the tab "display". There you can quite exactly see which graphics adapter is working in your rig. Take a screenshot and post it please.

  • Similar problem here: Nexuiz closes with the same symptoms, and I have a SiS Mirage Graphics too.

    Card: SiS 661, 64Mb
    Driver: 6.14.0010.3680
    (in)Operative System: XP home SP2
Computer: Desktop ACER, Pentium IV 3GHz

Except for OpenArena (OpenGL), and Narbacular Drop (although it's DX9), and Hinokakera (same), and I Was an Atomic Mutant, and some others I can't remember right now; all these play fine in my computer.
Anyways, I don't think that OpenGL games don't run on a SiS by default. And Nexuiz's engine is based on the Quake 3 too, ¿isn't it?

  • No, it's not. Nexuiz runs on the DarkPlaces engine (almost completely rewritten GLQuake, although it shares as much lines of code with the original GLQuake as DooM3).

  • So I was both right (DarkPlaces is based on GLQuake) and wrong (DarkPlaces has as much in common with GLQuake as vampires in Marvel Comics's 'Blade' have with Dracula), with more emphasis in the "wrong" part. I have to get a real graphics card asap.

    Thank you.

  • DRI bug with sis760 and agp card...
that happens if you use sis760 chipset with agp cards
something to do with agp apeture size

DRI ("Direct Rendering Infrastructure") is the basis for OpenGL and hardware 3D acceleration. Without DRI, X.org/XFree86 will use software rendering for OpenGL and 3D which is really slow

    http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/free ... 00161.html

its linux but doesnt mather for now just search for sis760 no DRI in google its a bug with agp apeture size it always stays on 4 mb or somthing
