  • hi, i've downloaded nexuiz 2.3 a few days ago and every time i try to play it, it goes well for a few minutes, but then suddenly stops working. i tried downloading again, and clicking nexuiz-sdl, but the same happens.

by the way, i run windows vista and it's given me a few problems with other programs, so maybe that's the cause

    thanks in advance

  • you can't read that? nexuiz.exe dejo de functionar! duh!

anyways could you try running it in a console and providing us with the output?
(in other words, open a command prompt, drag your nexuiz.exe icon onto the command prompt and hit enter, then copy and paste whatever it outputs here)

  • Could you tell us your system specs too? All I can tell is you're running that new version of Windows.

  • sorry, sorry, my bad. about the images, first thing that happens is this

    Image
text says: "nexuiz.exe stopped working" "windows is looking for a solution to the problem"

    then i stays like this:

    Image

text says: "nexuiz.exe stopped working" "the program stopped working because of a problem. windows will close the program and notify you if there is a solution"

then about the specs it's a intel dual core 1.86 gh, 1.87 gh; the ram is 2gb. i've looked almost everywhere for the video card, but i couldn't find it's specs

and [TSA] Psychcf, i don't know much about computers, so i didn't understand what you meant, the closest i could think of was using the task manager to execute the nexuiz.exe, but that just initiated nexuiz as always. sorry for my ignorance

  • ok, hold down shift and click on your nexuiz folder. Click on the item that says 'open command prompt here', and you should see a console. Type 'nexuiz.exe' and hit enter. Play the game until you encounter that error, then copy and paste whatever is in the console here so we can assist you.

This is quite a likely problem area. You really need to find out what graphics card your computer has and download the latest drivers for it if you want to play games. The drivers that come with Windows are very poor.

i noticed that it's the same window i get when i click nexuiz-dedicated, so i put it just in case it might be useful

  • After you start nexuiz.exe, the game should start. Does that not happen, perhaps behind the console window?

Play the game until it crashes, and then take a look at the console again. You should see some kind of errors output.

  • @[TSA] Psychcf: nexuiz(-sdl).exe doesn't print to stdout, that's what -condebug is for. But the log file wouldn't help much anyway...

@Dave: According to adago's report the game runs fine for a couple of minutes, so the drivers seem to support OpenGL (however updating the driver might still help).

@adago: could you try to generate a crash report as decribed here http://forums.alientrap.local/viewtopic.php?p=15396#15396 ? (no idea if that works on vista, but i don't have vista so i can't check)
