  • Hello, i'm on Ubuntu Gutsy, the game runs smoothly but textures are not displayed properly. Just got lots of black and gray cubes and some characters are completely black. My video card is radeon x300/x550, pentium4 1 gb ram.

    Thanks in advance.

  • You must be missing a pak file somewhere, a .pk3 file that's going to contain the missing bits, which is why you see grey and black cubes. Maybe you can check the map repository, to see if the map file is there:

    http://hagger.rbi.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de/~polzer/nexuiz/maps/

The .pk3 files on Linux go into /home/<user>/.nexuiz/data (or /home/<user>/.nexuiz/data/dlcache) that dlcache is where downloaded .pk3 files go, when you connect to a server (in game) that provides you the map file.

  • Hi !
I have similarly the same problem as Marcos. I'm too on ubuntu gusty. Game run perfect, the background are ok but the textures are not displayed properly. I have a lot of black and some grey, green and other colors.
I have tried the solution of TK471. I have downloaded the map in my repertories but the downloaded map and all the other map have the same problem. For example with the blue map (the first : blue.pk3) I see only black and blue...it's a bit hypnotic !!!
My graphic card is a ATI radeon M9700. I have installed the game with synaptic, the packet manager of ubuntu.
    Could you help me please.
Don't pay attention of spelling errors...I'm French. Thank's

  • Can you make a screenshot and upload it somewhere.

Whilst playing Nexuiz press F12, this will save a jpg screenshot on your computer.

The saved screenshots should be in your hidden nexuiz folder, it's in your home folder mine is /home/victim/.nexuiz/data/screenshots

Upload the jpg's somewher and link to them here. I use www.ukimagehost.com but there are plenty of others.

I use Kubuntu Gutsy and installed Nexuiz with Adept. I recall that I selected three packages - Nexuix, Nexuiz-data and Nexuiz-music.

  • hi, it's OK i have found the solution : don't use ATI drivers ! I use now the open drivers and all it's correct. although my glxgears test was inferior !
Nexuiz is a very succeeded game.
    bye

  • Can you do this:

    grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and tell me what it shows for your graphics driver when ATI's driver is not active.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • I reassure you the game is absolutely not slow.

    @ marcos1880 :

For the screenshot ; it was exactly my problem
I haven't download this drivers because this function is integrated in ubuntu ; after my first installation I had the choice to use proprietary drivers of Ati. I thought it was the best solution to have better performances but it was wrong.

    @ divVerent :

    flo~$ grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    Driver "kbd"
    Driver "mouse"
    Driver "synaptics"
    Driver "wacom"
    Driver "wacom"
    Driver "wacom"
    Driver "ati"

  • "ati" is the right one... try turning off "OpenGL 2.0 Shaders" in Nexuiz. Maybe also turn off "VBO".
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
