  • Hello,

I just switched to an nVidia 8800gt from an ATI X600. After this switch, Nexuiz freezes for about an 8th of a second, every second. It's like my graphics card can't keep up, but the framerate is at 150-300. I tried setting the graphics to the lowest possible, didn't help.
It doesn't matter what programs I close, or whether I have the card overclocked or not. Oddly, If I open the hardware monitor in RivaTuner, it fixes the problem. But only sometimes, and only after I restart Nexuiz.

    System Specs:
    - WinXP Professional, Service Pack 2
    - 2.80 GHz Pentium D
    - 2 Gigs of RAM
    - EVGA 8800gt 512mb GC
    - 160 GB HD
    - 500 W PSU

    Other Stuff:
    - It's a Dell
    - Ubuntu installed on other partition
    - No viruses, have NOD32 AV and Comodo Firewall
    - Regularly run CCleaner, defragment, and clean the registry
    - I keep it so clean, it runs like new. It's been a year and a half since I reinstalled.
    - List of running processes and hardware: Here
    - I have all the background processes set to one core, and F@H has the lowest priority
    - My drivers are up to date, and all the OpenGL settings are set to default.

    Thanks

  • Now I am. I unloaded both processes for both programs. The first time, Nexuiz started up nicely, no stutters. The second time, it went back to its usual lagginess.

  • Thanks, that fixed it.

BTW, they made a mistake in Fix #5, it says,
"3. Open the "0000" directory and enter a new key called OGL_ThreadControl and give it a value of 2. This will disable multithreading in the driver for all OGL apps."
    It should be,
"3. Open the "0000" directory and enter a new DWORD called OGL_ThreadControl and give it a value of 2. This will disable multithreading in the driver for all OGL apps."

  • Wait, I don't have this problem, but I think you would know how to answer a question I have.
What's a DWORD? There's something in Quake 3 in some servers that says something like "OP_Block not DWORD aligned" This probably has nothing to do with that kind of DWORD, but I was just hoping it was a relevant question.

I know, but there's nothing i can do about that. If i use the url tag either the entire post vanishes or the tag won't be replaced by a link.
