  • Nexuiz 2.4 uses a different menu system that 2.3. This menu system requires a new data file, '[mapname].mapinfo' as specified by divVerents map pk3 layout thread. All official maps released with Nexuiz have been updated, however, many custom maps created by the community do not contain this file and therefore create a default '[mapname].mapinfo' in your 'data/data/maps' directory. As such, some of the information such as <author>, <title> or <description> may not have been available to parse into this new structure.

So don't worry, your Nexuiz is not broken :).

These packages will (hopefully) be updated in time.

  • Right. What also can happen is that some game modes will not be available for the maps that were available before or vice versa. If no mapinfo file exists, some sort of autodetection is used to detect the possible game modes, which usually works fine, but of course doesn't fit every map.

You can do your part to get this fixed by looking in your Nexuiz directory, in the subfolder data, in data's subfolder data (yes, again), there in maps, and you'll see the mapinfo files that were autogenerated. Edit them, and post them somewhere - this will make the work of updating the map packs much easier. I plan to release a package with the required mapinfos after or with 2.4.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
