  • Let me start off by saying that 2.4 looks good from what I've seen so far and all the developers' work is appreciated.

Now, onto the bug. This has happened at least 4 times with the new 2.4 release (on DFF and green's). While playing (WinXP, SP2), keyboard movement input suddenly stops. I can still see other players moving around and can look around with the mouse. The function keys work and the chat key works, although the messages don't appear (just like when you have lag). Even when it seems to go back to normal and begins to display my messages, I still can't move at all. Reconnecting to the server fixes this, or if I wait long enough (about a minute), it sometimes kicks in again. Again, I can see everyone else moving around, capping flags, chatting, etc, so it's not just lag. It just seems to stop listening to the keyboard for movement input.

Can anyone else confirm that this is a bug? I don't think it's my hardware or my connection, but I'm not ruling them out as the source of the problem (although it seems very unlikely).

  • No i never had such a bug but i also do not use windows :)
Well i had a similar bug but in my case its not caused by nexuiz.. Some other application seems to steal the fullscreen (!) input focus so that i stop dead until i repress the buttons. I also see a short flicker from the restored v_gamma. Its however 'fixed' by running nexuiz in an extra X server so it really must be some other application.

    Back to your problem..
Maybe you have some chat program running in the background that does something similar and grabs the input focus? or a anti virus program that pops up the update dialog or something like this?
Oh or as usual you could try wgl vs sdl :)

  • New post to highlight the thread :)

KadaverJack had the idea to test
    Code: Select all
    vid_grabkeyboard 1
maybe you can also test it.. I'll report later if that helped with my problem.

Nope that did not help for me. But i found out what was the cause for me. The gnome-screensaver kicked in and was stealing my input focus. I just wonder why it did not properly activate, just steal my input focus, then i would have found out much sooner!
